Choosing a faster HorizonVPN protocol

Start with Auto, measure with the built-in Speed test, and manually test only options shown in your app.
The fastest connection method depends on the device, network, server, and distance. HorizonVPN shows only protocols currently offered for your platform and location, so there is no permanent fastest-name list.
Recommended test order
- 1Select a nearby location and leave Protocol on Auto
- 2Run the built-in Speed test and save the result
- 3If performance is poor, try another nearby location before changing protocol
- 4If you need a manual comparison, choose one protocol currently shown as available and repeat the same test
- 5Return to Auto after troubleshooting unless one available option is consistently better on your network
A protocol shown on one platform, plan, location, or app version may not appear on another. Follow the description shown in your app instead of an old mapping from a Help Center article.
