Cannot connect on public WiFi (captive portals)

How to use HorizonVPN on hotel, airport, and café WiFi networks.
Public WiFi networks often require you to accept terms via a captive portal before granting internet access. The VPN can't connect until you've passed through this portal.
- 1Connect to the public WiFi without the VPN active
- 2Open a browser — you should be redirected to the captive portal page
- 3Accept the terms or log in with your credentials
- 4Verify you have internet access by visiting any website
- 5Now open HorizonVPN, keep Protocol on Auto, and connect
Still blocked after completing the portal?
- Return Protocol to Auto and reconnect
- Try Connection compatibility in Settings → Connection
- If needed, manually test another protocol currently shown as available in your app
A captive portal temporarily requires access outside the VPN. Avoid entering unrelated sensitive information on the network sign-in page, verify its operator, and connect HorizonVPN after the portal grants normal internet access.
