WebRTC leaks — what they are and how to prevent them

WebRTC is a browser technology used for video calls and real-time communication. A WebRTC test can show local network addresses or a public address, so compare its result with the VPN IP shown by a normal IP test before deciding there is a leak.

Test for a WebRTC leak

1. 1Connect to HorizonVPN
2. 2Open the WebRTC leak test on horizonvpn.org or another trusted test site
3. 3Compare any public WebRTC address with the VPN IP and with your normal IP when disconnected
4. 4Repeat the test in a private window if browser extensions or cached site data may affect the result

If the test shows your normal public IP

• Update the browser and HorizonVPN app, then reconnect using Auto
• Review the browser's current privacy settings and official support documentation for WebRTC controls
• Temporarily disable unrelated browser extensions and test again
• Remember that disabling WebRTC can break browser calls, meetings, and other real-time features
